The Summer Bucket List Round-up

Image
Since Evie has had mounds of homework lately we've been spending our mornings mostly working through it. Our evenings are full every week with family time, the gym, the dance studio, friends, and weekend shenanigans but we've managed to squeeze in some fun STEM activities, art and play here and there. Today we had hip hop class. She has been begging me to sign her up for karate and competition cheer but there just isn't enough time in the week right now and we're also entertaining girl scouts so it's just too much!  This week is Spirit Week at school and today was crazy sock day. Evie chose one mermaid sock and one Halloween Harry Potter sock for her crazy socks today. She has been doing better about going to school and seems more comfortable being there but she still struggles with her teacher. I'm hopeful that if we choose public schools next year she will be assigned to a teacher who is more understanding, fun, and flexible. Her current teacher is very stri...

Summer Bucket List: Make a perfect s'more

Image
Today was a half day for me at work and after I got off we had a ton of errands to run. After we finished up with those we just wanted to come home and relax. We played in the pool, ran through the sprinkler, and just had a lot of fun being silly and enjoying the weather. This evening Evie really wanted to make s'mores so I picked up the stuff for it while we were out and we made some before we did her bedtime routine. Life has been super hectic lately so we haven't had a ton of time to just relax and stay up late and exist so it was nice to take some time today to just do nothing and enjoy each other. We also visited the library since it will be closed Monday and we needed some new books! It was a super fun way to start July! :)

Summer Bucket List: Enjoy a snowcone

We're still working on our summer bucket list and we've made some pretty good progress. This weekend we visited a Touch A Truck event and Evie had tons of fun climbing into recycling trucks, SWAT vehicles, and living her dream of pretending to be a real life excavator driver. We also got snow cones and checked that off the summer bucket list! We have also ridden our fair share of rollercoasters but I forgot to check it off the list!  We typically try to travel over her birthday but this year we didn't since we are working around several schedules. Instead of that I decided to take the first few days of the week off to just relax and have some fun with her. Today we drew a huge Barbie campground and played with her new camper. It's been super hot these last few days so we also took another trip down the pool to swim! Here's hoping that it cools down just enough to be tolerable but not so much that we can't swim! ;)

Jump! Jump! Jump! Jump!

Today was a pretty chill day. We played with some slime, made some ice cream out of play-doh and then this afternoon checked off another easy summer bucket list activity; jump on a trampoline! Since we already have one and jump on it literally daily this is probably the easiest one we'll check off all summer! This is going to be a big weekend for Evie with her very first ever dance recital so we tried to just take it easy today. :)

Just keep swimming...

If you're following along our Instagram than you probably already know we're starting to check things off our summer bucket list. This one was a super easy one; spend a day at the pool! We've actually spent MANY days at the pool and while we've had a few all to ourselves Evie has also been quite the social butterfly already. She has already made a ton of pool friends and managed to catch up with some of her favorite neighborhood buddies too. The pool is a super easy afternoon activity for us. We pack up lots of snacks, grab towels and sun screen and it's short walk from the house! I am really loving these early summer days and I can't wait to see what the rest of summer has to bring! :)

The Summer Bucket List..

This weekend Evie and I spent some time looking for and planning out some fun things for summer. Our schedule stays pretty full but we want to really make the most of this last summer we have before she starts school in the fall. We found this summer bucket list online and while some of these things aren't going to be within our reach, a lot of them are definitely things we can do! Pretty shortly after our list was printed up Evie found a way to check off our first item...dancing in the rain! Luckily she was already in her swimming suit when it started raining so it was no big deal for her to get a little wet! It's going to be a fun and BUSY summer! :)
