Adventures of Evie

  This past weekend Evie and I visited the Boonshoft Museum. She wanted to take Kumi with her and even though I was worried she would get lost, I ended up letting her. I thought we put her in the backpack for safe keeping when we headed up the climber in the middle but when we went to leave we realized she was gone. Evie was very sad about it and cried a lot. We checked lost and found but unfortunately no one had turned her in. So I went home with a very sad little girl. However, on Sunday when I called they said they had her! So today she came home with another postcard about her adventures at Boonshoft and a cool space necklace with hand painted (super fun let me tell ya!) beads.    We also had cooking day today! Evie got to make orange creamsicles. Although she didn't end up liking the final result she did a great job whipping them up! She has lots of little cooking tools and I want to start really teaching her how to use them and cook for herself. Obviously it will be...

  It's been an eventful and yet also very chill weekend for us. Saturday was Evie's day to see her dad so we drove out to a park so she could play with him for awhile and then we grabbed some lunch and headed home. Evie really wanted to play when we got in which was fine with me so I started set up for next weeks preschool theme which, if you didn't catch the other day, is monsters. Unfortunately, technology was not on my side and I spent hours fiddling with my cutting machine and computer before finally admitting defeat and deciding to change course on some of our activities. Disappointing but I still managed to get a whole week of fun stuff set up so it wasn't all bad!  On Sunday I got up early to workout and get a few things done and of course Evie decided to wake up early as well. She saw me doing some yoga and wanted to join in so I ended up turning on some kids yoga for her to do while I finished up the rest of my cleaning and got some things done. This kids yoga ...

  Today got off to a frustrating start. For some reason Evie woke up very needy and cranky and she did NOT want to go to preschool at all. She spent most of her morning crying instead of getting ready and asking me if she could please just stay home with mama. On another day I might have said OK but this is her last week in preschool and working multiple jobs with a toddler unexpectedly underfoot (especially a needy one) isn't easy! So I promised her I'd pick her up early today, just after lunchtime.  I didn't have a definite idea what we'd do with our afternoon when I made that promise but when I went outside during my work break and realized how nice it was it crossed my mind that it might be a perfect day to visit the zoo. It's been awhile since we've been. We spent most of our summer swimming and riding the rollercoasters at Kings Island and it's just been SO hot outside that walking around all day hasn't felt like the best plan but today was absolut...

  Today was family day and we had a fun time doing our nails, playing video games, and pretending to be dinosaurs. It's been a busy week for us even though it's early in the week still. I'm scrambling to get our setup down for at home preschool next week and we've been running around trying to soak up the last days of summer as well.  Somewhere in the course of cleaning things out and running around Evie's favorite lovey got lost. :/ I try to be very careful with this particular one since I got it when she was a baby and it's from an Australian/Canadian show which is now only viewable here on Netflix and the toys are long since discontinued. In fact I'm pretty sure I got the doll three years ago on clearance! Kumi rarely leaves the house and when she does I'm pretty diligent about where she is at all times but...things happen.  Luckily eBay had a few of them for not super ridiculous prices so while we wait for her Kumi doll to arrive I decided to have a ...
