A Pirates Life for me...

Image
Today was Pirate Day and it was a busy one for us! Originally my plan was for us to do some projects in the morning and then head out to a nearby park that I know has a huge pirate ship playset. Weather conditions caused our day to go a little sideways but we still had a ton of fun even if it was a little off today's topic. ;) While I was working this morning we made her a little telescope. She had a ton of fun running around shouting  "Yar I spotted a mermaid."  and then we had a little hunt to her "buried treasure" sensory bin. That sparked off a round of  "I've found the buried treasAAARRR"  It was a fun and definitely funny morning.  I had a special treasure map for her for after I got off work and it was supposed to lead to the pirate ship park BUT...it was pretty overcast and I didn't want to go too far in case we got rained out so we opted for a different park. This park is a lot closer and also new to us and it was a big win. We had a...

It's Mermaid Day! Evie was SO excited for this theme. This morning I greeted her with a mermaid tail and she ran to grab her Ariel costume dress and her tail that her nana made her. We have one movie day a month and today was it! We watched the live version of The Little Mermaid for the first part of the morning and then we made these fun thumbprint pictures. Evie wasn't' into filling in her whole tail but it still came out pretty cute. These dress up weeks are fun but buying costumes isn't cheap so I DIY'd my tail last night using some felt I already had, a glue gun, and some glitter. It was really easy to just pop over my feet with some leggings and Evie thought it was super fun. It will go in her dress up box at the end of today in case we need to use it again! For our snack time today we made mermaid pudding. We swirled purple and blue together and added sprinkles, whipped cream and Swedish fish (not pictured). Not the healthiest snack today but it's fun t...

We're starting a new theme this week and I'm pretty excited for this one. Since Halloween is coming up I wanted to do some abstractly Halloween themed stuff so this week (in addition to reviewing A, B, and C) we're having Make Believe week! Each day we're gonna have a different fun make believe theme. Today was princesses and let me tell you...the look on Evie's face when she saw me wearing a tiara and fluffy dress and realized she could wear her princess dress all day long was priceless. She opted to wear her Aurora dress today and we started with a sensory bin filled with water beads and a bunch of princesses, including her current favorite; Princess Poppy. It's not the most exciting bin I've done but water beads are always a big hit and she had a lot of fun making up stories about what the princesses were doing in there from going for a swim to being trapped in lava! Then we made some fairy princesses with toilet paper rolls and some fun accessories. We...
