A Pirates Life for me...
Today was Pirate Day and it was a busy one for us! Originally my plan was for us to do some projects in the morning and then head out to a nearby park that I know has a huge pirate ship playset. Weather conditions caused our day to go a little sideways but we still had a ton of fun even if it was a little off today's topic. ;)
While I was working this morning we made her a little telescope. She had a ton of fun running around shouting
"Yar I spotted a mermaid."
and then we had a little hunt to her "buried treasure" sensory bin. That sparked off a round of
"I've found the buried treasAAARRR"
It was a fun and definitely funny morning.
I had a special treasure map for her for after I got off work and it was supposed to lead to the pirate ship park BUT...it was pretty overcast and I didn't want to go too far in case we got rained out so we opted for a different park. This park is a lot closer and also new to us and it was a big win.
We had a picnic lunch and then spent about two and half hours playing before it did finally start raining. Evie loved running around playing with all the interactive parts of this park. Especially the zip line. The ground is also very colorful so she pretended to be a mermaid in the "blue sea" while I drove the "pirate ship" around. I love how much imagination she has and the fun little stories she comes up with.
Once the drizzle started we did a few more slides off the ship and then headed out to the library. We have a field trip planned for this weeks library day and since it was rainy anyway it seemed like an ideal afternoon activity. Luckily by the time we got there the rain had mostly stopped so we were able to walk down to get some ice cream too.
Overall it was a BIG win! I'm looking forward to tomorrows theme and the rest of Make Believe Week. :)
