Winter is coming...

Image
It's been a hectic couple of days for us! On Friday we cleaned the house up some, ran some errands, and caught up on some things around the house. Saturday we spent the morning playing at an indoor playground and then got the oil changed on the car (which Evie got to "help" with 😂) and then on Sunday we spent some time looking at Christmas decorations, running around, and getting our fall photos taken. It was both busy and also blissfully free of most of the demands we normally face on weekends. No plans, nowhere in particular to be, and lots of time for snuggles and games and coffee. ;)  Next week is already looming on the horizon and while I'm looking forward to all the plans we've made I'm also soaking up these last bits of "freedom" we have before the holidays really get into full swing. Stay tuned to see what we're up to next week! :)

I've got that summertime, summertime sadness...

The weather was finally pretty decent out today (and by that I mean not absolutely freezing!) so we decided to venture out for some playtime. After we did some counting review we went out to play and draw with chalks and Evie managed to find a dandelion that has survived the heavy frosts from the week. She was so excited to find a flower! We played with some makeup today too and then we did a little bit of painting while we cleaned up my art cart.   It's a short work week for me so we start our long weekend tomorrow but we'll be back Monday with a new theme; Nature! Hope you all have a good weekend and don't forget to check back next week to see what we have in store!

Troll in the dungeon...

We're still reviewing this week and also working on counting up to 20. She's doing really well with 1-10 and 15-20 but those funny numbers like eleven and twelve are getting her jumbled up still. Most of my working day today looked a lot like this...me on the computer while Evie dragged her little toys up to my desk and made up stories and dialogue for all her little characters. I have been relegated to voicing the roles of Kristoff and oddly... Professor Snape. 😂 After all those years in dark corridors and potions rooms at Hogwarts I imagine he must feel very out of place at a party with so many famous princesses. ;) It's been fun to take a little break from so much learning with her and just use our time for play but next week we will be back on track with more of a school type schedule!

Tidy, tidy, tidy up...

We're still reviewing this week but before it gets really cold we're also trying to get some things done around the house. Today Evie really wasn't into quiet time so instead of having her spend her hour alone in her room I let her help me deep clean the downstairs. She had a lot of fun scrubbing the walls and spinning her mop in my "fancy" mop bucket. It was also family day so after we did some cleaning we headed up to Nana's house for some dinner and games. Nothing exciting for this week although we may do some crafts tomorrow. Sometimes it's good to take some time to reflect and relax. ;)

Review Week...

Image
This week is going to be a slow one! There are some heavy things going on in our lives this week so instead of focusing on a theme we're just doing some number and letter review and trying to enjoy the last bits of warmer weather we'll have for awhile. Today we played dress up and cleaned up all the Halloween decorations we put up at the beginning of October. I updated my planner for the coming month...it's going to be a busy one! This time of year seems like it's always both agonizingly slow and somehow too fast all at once. Before dinner and after a few hours of playing outside we played a few rounds of princess Candyland. It was a pretty good day even if we have very little to show for it! ;)

Treat Street

Today was Treat Street day!! We didn't do much that was exciting during the morning. We played some games, did some art and made some treats. But this evening we got to go down to Treat Street which is an event in our area where businesses hand out candy and coupons.  There are decorations, music, food and of course...CANDY! This is the first year Evie really understands Halloween so it was a lot of fun watching her get so excited every time she got a piece of candy she loved. It was a rainy night but we made the best out of it! I'm really excited to see how she will do on beggars night! Just a few more days and we can trick or treat in our neighborhood! :)

Come inside, it's fun inside...

Today we had a spur of the moment trip for some fun outside the house! We did some worksheets in the morning and Evie played with her sensory bin some more and then when I got off work we got some lunch and headed out to an indoor playground. They had everything decorated for Halloween and since it was midday it wasn't super busy which was really nice. She got to run and play for a few hours and it was a change from our usual activities. It wasn't entirely on theme but it WAS a really fun  way to spend an afternoon! ;)
