I had the best day with you, today...

 




Today was a pretty hectic day for us.  We were supposed to be meeting someone at the park in the early afternoon so I kept her home to do a trial run of our upcoming time together. We put together a chore chart for her and I built a little capsule toy dispenser so she could get prizes when she does all her chores.



We filled it with little pieces of candy, tattoos, and non physical prizes like extra story time and screen time. Completing all her chores for a whole month earns her a Happy Meal.  She was pretty excited to jump on them (and to be honest most of them are already things she has to do everyday) and earned herself some extra story time at bedtime tonight.






Just before our meetup we put up some maps and learned about the US and the continents around the world.  Then we got ready to hit the road. Unfortunately, her family member cancelled at the last minute and her disappointment was intense. So we headed out for a girls day instead and picked up some craft supplies to make slime, a new wallflower for our downstairs (she loves picking things out in that store for some reason lol), and a happy meal lunch before heading back home for some real fun.






When we came back to the house it was HOT. Like REALLY hot outside but we're in our last days of summer so we decided to make the most of it and finish up our water balloon stash for the year. We pulled out the foam bucket and I let her play in the foam while the pool filled with it and some water.








Then we filled up the balloons, threw in some water toys to "fish" them out and had tons of fun searching through the foamy water to find the balloons to throw at each other. When we came back in she had a package from a family member filled with activities and fun stuff so we did a few projects before she passed out from exhaustion. It was a really good day for us. <3

Seed paper...

  Today we made some seed paper! It was chillier out today so we tried to squeeze this one in before it got TOO cold. Yesterday we shredded up some paper we got from Nana and soaked it in some water.  Then Evie got to add some dye into the mix to try to make it look pink. This worked pretty well but it wasn't as bold when the paper dried later. She had fun mixing it up and then we took it to the blender to get it really nice and pulpy.  After that we took it outside to smoosh out the water over a screen we made. Last we turned them out onto towels and Evie got to add seeds. I know you can add them into the pulp mix as well but I didn't want them to sprout and the paper is going to be wet for a few days at least since it's chilly and rainy out now. Once these are done we will cut then into shapes and use them in her bee garden next month. She really had a lot of fun with this one and it was such a cheap and easy thing to do. Arts AND Crafts...

  Today we had art day and worked on some fun projects together. I told Evie this morning that it was arts and crafts day and she was SUPER excited because other than STEM day, arts and crafts are her favorite. We started off this afternoon with some potato stamping. I set this up while Evie was doing her quiet time and when I presented her with the paint, canvas, and potato she said to me "Mama I thought that potato was my snack!" 😂😂 She was definitely relieved to find out it wasn't for eating.  She had a lot of fun smashing it around and combining the colors to make her picture. After we finished our potato painting we had some free play and made chalk houses for her LOL dolls for awhile. We also made use of the sunny day (the first in awhile!) to plant a tree in the yard together. Ice, Ice Baby...

    This week along with weather we've been talking about climates and how we are all adapted and suited for where we live. Today we switched up our sensory table for a snowy, icy, arctic one. I wasn't sure how Evie would like this one because while she loves water play she does NOT like to be sticky or slimy. The snow (which is fake snow made from powder ) isn't cold at all but it gets sort of gel like when you mix the two.  She had fun balancing the animals on the ice and digging them into the snow for awhile and then she cautiously asked if she could mix the snow and water. When I told her of course she can she was ecstatic. She found that adding snow to water caused the snow to "melt" and adding the water to the snow melted it down into gelatinous pools of blue "ice".  After lunchtime we took this one outside and she played with it for HOURS.
