Monster mash...
We're still moving forward with Monster Week and today was Evie's favorite day of the week; STEM day. I refilled her sensory bin with a more pleasant mix of things and she actually had a ton of fun playing with it in all sorts of ways today.
We set it out on a big blanket so when we were done I could roll all the water beads back into the bin and toss the blanket in the wash (if needed). First I set her up with the task of digging out all the eyeballs, snakes, spiders, fuzz balls, and bouncy balls and then she tossed them back into the water beads and used little items from her kitchen to make me eyeball soup and snake snacks. This whole bin was super cheap thanks to Walmart's .98 Halloween bin and the water beads we already had.
We did a few more monster sheets today and focused on counting and numbers. She got these sheets and she had fun counting out and gluing on the amount of eyes each monster was supposed to have. Since I don't have sticky eyes this one was more time consuming too since she had to use her glue stick to get them on there.
For our STEM activity this week we did a SCARY activity about fears...😉 that is to say we learned about hydrophobia and we used some oil, colored water and alka seltzer tabs to make a little experiment to see if we could help the oil get over it's "fear of water". Spoiler alert: we were not able to do it. Evie had fun trying over and over though and it was fun to watch the water bubbles form in the oil. Tomorrow is cooking day so stay tuned to see what yummy and scary treats we come up with!
