You're a wizard Harry...

Today is the last day of our Make Believe week. It's a short week for us because tomorrow we're taking a little field trip! It's witches and wizards day and we had another little impromptu outing. This morning we made some 'potions' for breakfast. I let her have some different cereals and some cereal marshmallows and fruits and she mixed them up in a big bowl. She also got to wear her witch costume all day long and she tested out a chopstick wand on various things around the house. I used to have some magnet paper lying around and had planned to attach some to the wand and various other things for some magic but I didn't get around to it this time. Maybe for Halloween week. ;P

After I got off work we decided to take the afternoon and visit the museum center downtown. We haven't been in awhile and you used to have to make reservations which meant a lot of preplanning and that made it tricky for us. It was nice to be able to just go on a whim today.

We got to play in water and climb in tubes and pretend to be a vet again. We also got to pretend to shop and run an excavator. She always has so much fun here and it's a really easy way to kill an afternoon. She also learns so much through play at the museum. She was still sad about the space exhibit being gone but there is a really neat Pixar exhibit coming up that she wouldn't stop talking about. So that might be something we add to the list in the future.

After we left the museum we headed down to the riverfront parks. The park I had planned to take her to for pirate day is actually closed which was disappointing. Instead we took a walk down the riverfront and we swang on the swings and checked out the boats and Evie made a point of stopping at all the water fountains because she loves how she can make the water come out all by herself.

Eventually we ended up at another fun park! So she got to run around and play and swing and jump around. It was a super hot day but this particular park is situated right under the freeway so it's nice and shaded. We spent an hour or so in the park playing before it was time to head home.

Once we got home we told stories with chalk on the driveway and made some color change lemonade! It's really fun how excited she gets over little things like this. She really does believe it's magic and that makes days like today so much fun! Tomorrow we're headed off on another adventure so stay tuned!
