Things will be great when you're downtown...
This week we are starting to learn about the five senses. We are also reviewing the letters G, H, and I. We started this morning with some worksheets and a plan to focus on talking about sight today.
She's doing really well with writing her letters and recognizing them. We talked about what we use sight for, how its important, and also how people (and animals) who don't have sight navigate that. We did a little scavenger hunt too where I asked her to find me things that were a certain color or shape. As we went through our activities and routine this morning, she kept asking me if we could PLEASE go to the museum today. So, I decided to let her have her way!
When we got there, she was so excited to find Braille. We talked about it and I showed her what it looks like and how it works but she's never really paid attention to it when we're out places before. She was curious to see what it felt like.
We also found these fun stations where you can smell boxes and she had a lot of fun telling me what she smelled. At the end of this exhibit, we got to see what our zoo looked like all the way back in 1930. Evie was pretty shocked at how small it was and how few animals were in it. No giraffes! Then we headed down to the children's part...
She got to use ALL of her senses for the museum, so it worked out AND it's always fun to get out of the house and do something together. :)
