A is for alligator...

It's crunch time! It's officially our first week of at home preschool for 2022 and we have only about nine months at this point to be fully ready for kindergarten! Which feels crazy. Based on the current guidelines for her school district she's actually already where she needs to be but better safe than sorry so we are focusing on review of letters for the next several months.

This week our focus is on the letter "A" and the number "1". We practiced writing both the letter and the number and did a few worksheets for recognizing each. Then we made this fun alligator out of the letter. She really loved putting on his teeth!

I had an unexpected short day today and we decided to use it to go to the museum. Originally we intended to use it to see an Omnimax presentation they have going on about underwater caves but the showtimes were weird so we skipped it and just focused on the museum.

We made the most of it and had a ton of fun but today was not without it's frustrations. On the way down to the museum we were nearly run off the freeway by someone who apparently didn't like one of our car stickers and felt the need to let us know it--whilst driving 75 miles an hour down a busy highway. Then once we got there there were a few kids who seemed to want to run around causing trouble. Evie had a number of things ripped from her hands and a few tossed at her face as well. It was frustrating for us both but it also gave us some good teaching and learning moments.

We spent a few hours there and then made the drive home to make some dinner and play with some play-doh for awhile. It ended up being a really great day and I was grateful to be able to spend some extra time playing and having fun with her today. Here's hoping the rest of the week goes smoothly! :)
