Something there that wasn't there before...

 

Today was a BUSY day for us! First we did some art camp and today we made rocket cards!! These slide up and down on the front of the card so you can "launch" them into space. They were really fun to make and decorate. Evie made hers mostly pink and also made sure to add an extra window in the bottom for a "snack station". 



She did a really good job at cutting out the pieces and gluing everything together. We skipped one day of art camp this week so we're going to do the virtual makeup on the weekend. After we finished those up we put them aside to dry and then got ready to head out for the afternoon.



First we drove to the doctor to get her last COVID shot. So as of today she is officially FULLY vaccinated. We are out and about all the time and travel often so this is something I've been very much looking forward to. Even though we do mask up in crowded spaces it's such a relief to know that she has an extra layer of protection. 



Then we headed up to Nana's house for a girls night. We all went to a dinner theater to see Beauty and the Beast! This is not Evie's first experience with live theater, but it is her first experience with dinner theater and she really loved it. She got to eat a three course meal and then watch the show! It was a super late night but it was really fun and we can't wait to do it again. :)

Seed paper...

  Today we made some seed paper! It was chillier out today so we tried to squeeze this one in before it got TOO cold. Yesterday we shredded up some paper we got from Nana and soaked it in some water.  Then Evie got to add some dye into the mix to try to make it look pink. This worked pretty well but it wasn't as bold when the paper dried later. She had fun mixing it up and then we took it to the blender to get it really nice and pulpy.  After that we took it outside to smoosh out the water over a screen we made. Last we turned them out onto towels and Evie got to add seeds. I know you can add them into the pulp mix as well but I didn't want them to sprout and the paper is going to be wet for a few days at least since it's chilly and rainy out now. Once these are done we will cut then into shapes and use them in her bee garden next month. She really had a lot of fun with this one and it was such a cheap and easy thing to do. Arts AND Crafts...

  Today we had art day and worked on some fun projects together. I told Evie this morning that it was arts and crafts day and she was SUPER excited because other than STEM day, arts and crafts are her favorite. We started off this afternoon with some potato stamping. I set this up while Evie was doing her quiet time and when I presented her with the paint, canvas, and potato she said to me "Mama I thought that potato was my snack!" 😂😂 She was definitely relieved to find out it wasn't for eating.  She had a lot of fun smashing it around and combining the colors to make her picture. After we finished our potato painting we had some free play and made chalk houses for her LOL dolls for awhile. We also made use of the sunny day (the first in awhile!) to plant a tree in the yard together. Ice, Ice Baby...

    This week along with weather we've been talking about climates and how we are all adapted and suited for where we live. Today we switched up our sensory table for a snowy, icy, arctic one. I wasn't sure how Evie would like this one because while she loves water play she does NOT like to be sticky or slimy. The snow (which is fake snow made from powder ) isn't cold at all but it gets sort of gel like when you mix the two.  She had fun balancing the animals on the ice and digging them into the snow for awhile and then she cautiously asked if she could mix the snow and water. When I told her of course she can she was ecstatic. She found that adding snow to water caused the snow to "melt" and adding the water to the snow melted it down into gelatinous pools of blue "ice".  After lunchtime we took this one outside and she played with it for HOURS.
