Dreams do come true in New Orleans...
It's our final day of vacation and todays adventure is New Orleans! This was not a part of our original trip and the weather was decidedly rainy so we made plans to check out City Park and the Childrens Museum of Louisiana. The park was absolutely beautiful and nestled inside of it is the museum, an art museum, many little collections of statues and art installations, as well as Cafe Du Monde which promises to have delicious coffee and beignets. We started there and they definitely were delicious!
While we ate and enjoyed our coffee Evie put on many "shows" for us in this gorgeous gazebo that's right across from the cafe. She had a ton of fun using it as a stage and singing and dancing and then of course encouraging us all to clap for her when the show was over.
Then it was museum time! I still honestly didn't find this museum as nice as our own but it was VASTLY superior to the Tampa one. Evie started out on the water table again. This water table had a lot of areas about tides and currents and erosion.
Her absolute favorite section was the music room. She really loved playing the piano and some of the other instruments as well. We also got to see some art up here and then we put ourselves inside a bubble which was a ton of fun! On the lower level Evie got to build a bridge out of some large foam blocks and then there was a huge grocery and cooking area much like at our own museum, a spot to learn more about erosion, and a boat where she could pretend to fish.
After we finished up with the museum we headed out to Bourbon St with the intention of grabbing lunch and seeing the sights. It was super busy and very rainy though so after we drove through and checked out the architecture we ended up heading back to the hotel. We had a lot of fun here even though it was a short trip. It's definitely a place I'd come back to and plan out more to do. Maybe during a less rainy season though! ;P Tomorrow vacation is over and we're headed back home to reality. This was a fun one though!
