Hello Kindergarten...

Yesterday we got to go out to Evie's school and meet her teacher and see her classroom. She had a lot of nerves after leaving and she was really not having it when she woke up today. She cried and told me she couldn't go and begged me to let her stay home. She told me she'd miss me too much and she wanted to wait til next year and that she ABSOLUTELY was NOT getting on the bus today. I had a hopeful solution already in the works and it did help a little but she still was a ball of nerves all morning. After I had her calmed down some I gave her this little bracelet I made for her a few weeks ago. It has all her favorite colors and a little heart bead in the center. I told her I had put kisses and hugs in the heart and that if she got lonely or scared or needed mama while she was at school all she had to do was just look at her bracelet and rub the heart and it would be like a virtual hug and kiss til she got home. She really loved that and was so excited to put it on.

With that being said though as soon as she saw her bus she RAN to get on it. Didn't even look back to say goodbye. She has been waiting and waiting for this day and even though first days are scary I knew she'd come around at some point. And I am VERY glad I didn't have to pry her off of me crying. Before the bus had even pulled out she had made a new friend. After she left I got to work cleaning up her room and bringing her old bed back. It seems like there was virtually no time between when she left and when it was time for pickup! When she got in the car she was very excited to tell me about her day and how her friends from daycare were in her class and how excited she is to be back tomorrow. We went to the park and got cotton candy and then made dinner, snuggled up to read books, and that was it. A long day but a really good one. :)
