This is a temperate zone...
This week we're learning about climates and the different types of climates around the world. We talked a little about Polar, Temperate, Tropical, Dry, and Continental climates today and how the type of climate a place has can affect the weather, types of plants and animals living there, and so much more!
She got to play with this sensory bin filled with purple ice and snow and some polar animals. We talked a little bit about how small shifts in the global temperature can very seriously affect the climate and how the polar animals are currently being very affected by this.
Then we talked about how weather is different to climate but also how each one can affect the other. Evie was very concerned to know that global shifts can affect how severe the weather in each climate can be! But we also talked about how there are things we can do to prevent the shifts and help make things better.
She had a lot of fun mixing these little foam weather slimes together and adding rainbows, clouds, sunshines and "stormy" glitter to them while we talked.
We also started a little rainbow headband today. Evie got up extra early for some reason but we stayed busy til lunchtime! Then we played outside, ate some lunch and got read to catch the bus for week two of kindergarten! It was a good start to our week. :)
