Rainy days and puppy dogs...

Today was a busy day but we also took it pretty easy. Last week Evie really struggled with going to school. She was so excited the first week, the second she was hesitant but cooperative, and last week somewhere around Wednesday everything went sideways. She cried. She ran. She hid. She yelled that she was "NOT GETTING ON THE BUS!" Of course, she did. But definitely not happily. So we took a little step back this week. She loves the activities we do and was sad about not waking up to one this morning but I think maybe it's time for a little break in the structure. We all need mental health days sometimes and every so often...maybe a mental health WEEK. Today she got on the bus no problem, however, when I picked her up she had a bone to pick with me...see last week I talked to her school counselor just to see if anything changed in class that may have caused her to suddenly be so adamant about disliking school and see what we could do to get her back on track. I told her today that Miss Brittany would be coming down to talk to her and see how she was doing today and she was VERY excited. She even told me she had a dream where she spoke to Miss Brittany and how much fun they had. So today when she got into the car she immediately said to me,

"MAMA. You said I'd get to talk to Miss Brittany today and I thought you meant BRITNEY SPEARS."

All I could do was laugh of course. How disappointing to expect Britney Spears and be met instead with a regular, non-famous (although VERY nice) school counselor. She took it in stride though and had a great day otherwise.

After school we went up to my mom's for family night. We got to meet their new puppy and it's SO cute and soft. Even Evie, who is typically very reserved and sometimes even outright terrified around dogs, want to kiss and pet him. He is super cute, ridiculously soft, and very well behaved. He also LOVES attention and we certainly gave him lots of it. It was a nice end to the day. Here's hoping this week goes better than the last one!
