Trampoline concerts and astigmatism...
This evening I had to go get my eye exam done. I haven't been in about two years and COVID and new insurance have both forced me to switch providers. Realistically I haven't worn lenses or glasses very much since about 2014. I SHOULD do it but they have never made things perfectly clear for me and even though they improve my vision I still get headaches and eye strain so it just hasn't been at the forefront of my mind. I want Evie to be proactive in her adult years about preventative care though and not just see me taking her but not taking care of myself so I went. When we got there my new doctor checked my glasses to see what my prescription was previously. I told her what I knew it was but she seemed really skeptical and was even more so when she came back and found out I was correct. Then she says to me, "Has anyone ever told you that you have astigmatism?" I'm like yeah. They told me that at my previous optometrist office. More questions..."Do you see streaks of light? Do you have problems seeing at night? Do things look clear to you? Do you ever feel like transitioning your eyes from distance to close up is difficult?" ...ummm yes. All of that. "Have your lenses or glasses fixed these issues for you?" No...no they did not hence why I rarely wear them. "Did you mention this to your previous doctor" Uhh yeah. Consistently. COME to find out...the astigmatism is the ONLY issue with my eyes. So my previous doctor had me at corrective lenses that were SIX times too high for my vision and did not correct the astigmatism AT ALL. Super fun, right? But now I can see crystal clearly with no issues and Evie LOVED watching me have to go through all the things she usually has to do at the ophthalmologist. She also spotted a pair of purple Coach frames and decided that she really would like to have glasses now so that she can wear them. ๐ It was a busy day but definitely pretty good. ;)
