A is for Airplane...


Well we're back to school this week and since there are only 26 days of school remaining Evie’s school is doing a fun countdown with the letters of the alphabet. Today is A and the theme for today is A is for airplane. Even though they were going to make airplanes in school today we decided to make one for ourselves and see how it flew. Evie had a lot of fun choosing her plane, folding it up, and flying in around the yard. We also put a little space Kitty in there just for fun! It's been a nice week so far and I hope the weather keeps up we're doing well on our 1000 hours outside challenge and it's been nice to be in the sunshine again.

Movie Night: WALL-E

  It's movie night! This week we are doing WALL-E. It follows our Eco Week theme and...it actually was the reason for the theme in the first place. A few weeks ago Evie and I got Disney Dreamlight Valley on the switch. We've been playing it together and when we got the WALL-E character she was very intrigued. What is he? Why is he? What is he from? Why haven't I seen Wall-E? So we gave it a go.She loved the movie and had TONS of questions about the earth and could that really happen and what can we do to stop it. So we decided to do a whole week of learning about the planet and how we can keep it clean and wrap it up with WALL-E round 2.  The menu for this one was pretty simplistic. We made pizza in a cup which was a tomato basil soup with mozzarella on top. Beanstalks and pop up sand boxes...

  Today we made a beanstalk. Evie doesn't know it yet but all these things she's making are going to be used later in the week. We used this beanstalk to do some math first and then I let her fill it in however she wanted. I asked her to put certain amounts in, take away a few and see how many were left...etc. She had fun poking them in there and making it look the way she wanted it to. Then since it was so nice outside I set up her sandbox for her to play in.  When she was about 2 I got her one of those Step2 sandboxes with a lid and an umbrella and a picnic table. It cost something like $300 and then of course the cost of 200lb of sand to fill it up. It was great for awhile but the lid didn't keep out rain and over the course of the following several years despite trying loads of things to keep it clean it just...never was. So we got rid of it. She was sad about it because she LOVES playing in sand but it was always green, slimy, filled with worms, and just...gross. So we...

At the end of the rainbow...

This week is St Patricks week and today we did some art! This week in addition to her projects I hid a golden coin for Evie to find. Today it was hidden inside this little cauldron I made in advance. Since I was out all weekend and needed to catch up at work, I made a video in advance for this one and she LOVED following along and doing the project with me on YouTube. Once she finished up she got to go grab mine and eat the chocolate coin!   After school today we had some errands to run and Evie found a mermaid she wanted to paint so I set her up to do it while I put away groceries. When she was finished she used her extra paint to mix up colors and see what she could get! Then we painted some different things on the scrap sheet. We use these just to keep the table clean when she paints but I love that she always decorates them when she's finished. <3
