Spring Break 2023...

Well today is the day! This morning we set out for our spring break trip and it was an interesting day to say the least. Our original spring break plan was to go to NYC. I've been before but neither my daughter nor my niece has been and it sounded like a fun trip. My niece really wanted to go back to Boston and even though I typically prefer to do that later in the year when it' s a bit warmer I decided to go anyway. So this year instead of flying we made a plan to visit some other places and states along the way. Today's plan was to go to Baltimore and check out the city before ending our night in Wilmington, DE. However, that plan went south about two hours into our trip. As we were driving on the freeway my back tire blew out. The good news of it was that my insurance came out to help us get the tire changed (we were on an incline so I didn't feel super safe about doing it myself) and we got a new tire within about two hours. But the bad news is that the setback would have put us in Baltimore around 5/6PM and I wasn't excited to be in the city at rush hour nor at dark. So we pivoted and ended up visiting Frederick, MD. Frederick was really cute and it was HOPPING when we got there around 4PM. Lots of cute little shops, a fountain, street murals, and even a coffee shop with mermaid wallpaper.

After checking out the scene in Frederick we headed to our hotel in Wilmington for the night. Evie got to swim which she was VERY happy about and we all got to relax. I'll be honest, I don't think I'd stay at this Hampton again though. The staff was pretty rude and they seemed annoyed that we had checked in online rather than at the desk. They also had limits on when you could use their pool and even though there was NO ONE else in the pool they told us we had to get on a list and make a reservation to use it and then we could only swim for one hour. So definitely not on my list of places to return to. But at least we all got to relax and get some sleep for tomorrow!
