The Sideways Day...
Today was one of those days where things go absolutely sideways and you just have to roll with the punches. Literally. Evie has been BEGGING me to take her to the museum center and for the last two days they were closed due to a water main break. So today we headed down to have some fun. However, as we came across the bridge from the freeway it was evident that the museum was off the table. After sitting in traffic waiting to get into the PARKING lot for almost 40 minutes we finally were able to make a turn and head off to try something else. Evie was SUPER disappointed that the museum wasn't going to happen but it was just way too packed. Instead we decided to try a new play space I've been eyeing. Thankfully Evie is still young and typically loves any kind of play space, no matter how small or crowded but I definitely would not go back to this one. It was MUCH smaller than I anticipated and even though it boasts about its large play area online and ample room for eating and parents to sit this was not the case. There were four smallish houses to play in, one fire truck, one camper, and a play area which had two slides and about six tunnels. So it was pretty small and there was definitely not room for me to sit down and watch her play at all. But that's OK because I'm glad I stuck with her. During the short two hours we were there Evie was pushed, slapped in the face (and the girl attempted to slap her again but luckily I was there), had toys ripped from her hands, was yelled at and called names, and generally the vibes just were not it. None of the parents were parenting their children and this play place is best suited for kids under 5/6 yet there were 10/12 year olds literally jumping off of things, throwing things, knocking people down, grabbing kids and all kinds of other crazyness. On top of that there are no associates anywhere but at the entry manning the registers and that means no one is supervising OR cleaning. So we didn't stay very long. Evie said she still liked it but I didn't find it worth what we paid to get in even had it been more calm. Regardless we made the most of it before we headed home to make dinner. Here's hoping we make it to the museum another day.
